", "With an annual attendance of around 900, the Fête, Eliot House's spring ball, is Harvard’s largest undergraduate formal. It's also known as the most exclusive; tickets are highly coveted and thwarting inventive gate-crashers has become an annual Eliot ritual. The days leading up to the Fête are filled with preparatory activities; students partake in bow-tie-tying lessons with the Housemaster, enjoy in-house hair and makeup appointments, and take swing dancing lessons, as well as assisting with delivering invitations, hand-dipping strawberries in chocolate, and arranging flowers.
On the night itself, Eliot residents and their dates roam Eliot's grounds surrounded by an abundance of culinary and entertainment options: swing dancing and champagne in the courtyard, a DJ and bar in the dining hall, and a wide array of libations and treats framing an iconic ice sculpture on the terrace. A brief escape from studying for spring exams, the Fête ushers in a fresh new season with fun and flair.
", "Eliot's one-off alumni ball celebrated the conclusion of Lino Pertile and Anna Bensted’s ten-year tenure as Eliot Housemasters. On May 30, 2010, over 350 Eliot alumni returned home to take a step back in time, catch up with friends, and dance the night away. In keeping with Fete tradition, Festa featured liberal quantities of champagne, hand-dipped chocolate-covered strawberries, and the return of the Neal Perry swing band. Expanding on Fete traditions, the event included a signature drink (“The Sweet Charles”), two custom-made ice sculptures, and a barista serving up a variety of espresso drinks in the wee hours of the morning. The night ended with a rendition of the Eliot House song led by Lino himself, and a hearty cheer of “Floreat Domus de Eliot!”
", "The climax of Computer Science 50 and the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences’ flagship recruiting event, the CS50 Fair offers tech industry representatives a unique opportunity to mingle with Harvard students and faculty while enjoying an exhibition of nearly 500 student projects. Considered “the place to be” during Harvard’s pre-exam reading period, 2010’s fair drew more than 1,500 engineers and non-engineers alike from across Harvard’s campuses.
", "On December 2, 2010, over 200 students in Harvard's introductory computer science course gathered at the Microsoft NERD for the course’s first-ever Hackathon, an all-night event in which they tackled their final projects with the course’s teaching fellows by their side. Pizza was served at 9:00 p.m., Chinese food was delivered at 2:00 a.m., and those still standing at 6:00 a.m. were treated to breakfast at IHOP.
", "On the afternoon of April 25, 2009, Eliot House started CRASH Es, its own outdoor erging competition on the terrace. The Charles River All Star House of Eliot Championships were inspired by the CRASH B sprints in Boston. Competitors were divided into eight races based on gender, experience level, and weight. Games were followed by a BBQ, Stein Club, and an outdoor party.
", "On December 7, 2008, Eliot House celebrated the pending arrival of a new member with a surprise baby shower. With the majority of attendees college students, the event was decidedly atypical. Adhering to a \"punk rock\" theme for the baby girl, pink and black balloons decorated the house library, matching Kickass cupcakes starred as the main refreshment, and Rockband (projected from a Xbox) provided entertainment.
", "Sheila Christine Lee creates extraordinary events. A California native, Sheila graduated from Harvard College in 2009 with a degree in applied mathematics. She discovered her love for event planning as a junior, when she orchestrated Harvard's largest undergraduate spring formal. Since then, Sheila has coordinated and consulted on occasions ranging from an intimate 60-guest wedding to a technology event with more than 1500 attendees. In October 2010, Sheila decided to leave a career in finance to plan events full-time.
